Teachers & CPD

Would you like more confidence in teaching creative writing? Strategies to help pupils develop bold, Coloured pencils2 vivid writing, and stronger characters and stories?

How about a CPD session for your department?

Maybe you want to explore ideas for starting a story with a bang, or using drama techniques to liven up personal writing. You'll certainly also learn techniques that are useful to your own writing!

I offer workshops on playwriting, journalism & reporting, creativity and short fiction, and am happy to work with education and arts departments anywhere in Scotland and the north of England.

I’m a qualified teacher (PGCE and Dip.Ed. from Moray House) with a strong track record in teaching creative writing at secondary and adult level. I’ve also been a journalism and production trainer for the BBC.

I teach playwriting as part of the Traverse Theatre’s prestigious Class Act project in secondary schools. Apart from being brilliant fun, Class Act helps develop pupils’ writing, teamwork and confidence through a professional playwriting experience. So far, I've worked with Peebles High and Leith Academy, and this session I'm looking forward to working with St Augustine's in Edinburgh.

I also teach Creative Writing for the Open University in Scotland, and have experience in distance and e-learning, as well as course development. My writing CV is on my website, www.texthouse.net.

For more information, drop me an email or ring Texthouse on 01835 862530.

Look forward to hearing from you!
